Our Direct Partner O2, has made recent changes to roaming in the USA, announcing that some phones which use 2G and 3G services will no longer be compatible with USA networks from 2023. These changes from American mobile network operators with roaming agreements tied to networks in the USA, are set to heavily impact visitors travelling from the UK.

If you’re considering travelling on business to the USA and planning on using data roaming, ensure you have the following to keep your communications fully operational:

1. 1. 1. A 4G or 5G Phone which supports 4G calling when roaming, and the most up to date software installed on your device
      2. A 4G or 5G enabled sim
      3. A compatible O2 tariff
      4. Switch on 4G calling on your mobile

With all of the above you will be able to call, text, and use data as normal while in the USA.

While the USA is implementing these changes now, it won’t be long before other countries follow suit, so it is key to prepare now for any future business travels outside of Europe.
