At Uplands OneTelco, we believe that every great story starts with a spark of innovation. Ours ignited in 1979 when we first launched as Uplands Car Radios. Back then, the hum of car stereos was music to our ears. If you ask around, you might still bump into someone who fondly recalls buying their first stereo from one of our stores across the Wales and the West Country, “back in the day.”
Our evolution didn’t stop there. In 1985, we became a Cellnet Advance Partner and took our first baby steps into the world of cellular communications.
I took it upon myself to Kick off what would be a pioneering journey into telecommunications. We didn’t just dabble; we took the plunge, becoming one of the first in the UK to bring prepaid mobile phones to the national market with revolutionary products like Cellnet Easy Pay and U. From Debenhams to House of Fraser, The Co-Op, and even working on bespoke projects for the likes of Benetton across Europe, we were more than a business - we were shaping lifestyles.
We were also among the first to offer satellite navigation, working with key clients like Geo Post, the NHS, and several Blue Light Services to ensure the UK stayed ahead of the technology curve.
By 2008, I found myself echoing the words of Victor Kiam: “I liked the business so much, I bought it.” It was more than just a transaction; it was a commitment to take Uplands to even greater heights. Since then, we’ve never looked back.
Fast forward to today, and Uplands OneTelco stands proudly as one of the UK’s leading B2B and Enterprise telecom providers, exclusively focused on empowering businesses. We’ve grown from selling the first mobile phone - so large it had to be installed in a local Cardiff butcher’s car - to delivering seamless mobile, cloud, IoT, and connectivity solutions that help SMEs and Enterprises scale effortlessly.
From our humble roots, we’ve built a reputation for excellence, winning numerous awards, from “Best Customer Service” to “Best Reseller of the Year.” But for us, it’s never been just about the accolades - it’s about the relationships we’ve forged.
