Customer Testimonial – Bristol City Council and Community Learning

However, if people do not have access to the technology required, this leaves them at a detrimental disadvantage. This is why Uplands was delighted when asked to support Bristol City Council and Community Learning with the supply and distribution of tablet technology to vulnerable Bristol residents.

Delivering technology to the residents of Bristol

Community Learning is a part of Bristol City Council’s Employment, Skills and Learning team. They set up courses for people with few or no qualifications, and for adults who are unemployed and experience multiple barriers to learning and work, delivering invaluable learning experiences to residents across Bristol.

Their latest project had faced challenges in securing the technology required, leaving people disconnected and let down. As a local, reliable telecommunications provider, we were dedicated to efficiently supplying and distributing the technology required as quickly as possible, so Bristol residents could benefit from this fantastic project.

Alongside the technology rollout, Bristol residents have been supported by Community Learning with digital training courses, tailored to upskill in English, maths and employability. The prompt delivery and use of this equipment has provided an approximate benefit to the local economy of £102,000.

“We have been struggling to get much-needed devices into the hands of Bristol residents since the start of lockdown, dealing with people who desperately need access to support learning, families or a return to work.

Through the last 6 months, we have battled companies large and small, dealt with excuses and delays and failed to get enough equipment into the hands of underprivileged people who need it. Uplands has been a breath of fresh air.

Beyond simply providing a first-class product at an extremely competitive price the service has been absolutely first class. We are well aware that the process of working with a local authority can be challenging with lots of requests for clarification and changes to our requirements. All through the process, however, our deployment manager Della was fast, responsive and friendly. At no point did an email not receive a quick and accurate answer.

To cap it all off, when we were finally able to jump through all of our internal hoops and legal paperwork, the devices arrived the day after we ordered them. Thanks to Uplands, we have already placed scores of these devices with people who badly need them to continue studying and working across Bristol!
