BREAKING NEWS: O2 and Virgin Media join forces in the UK

The UK’s Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) today announced its final approval of the 50:50 joint venture between Liberty Global and Telefonica to combine Virgin Media and O2.

The CMA cleared the transaction without remedies and now all regulatory conditions are met in alignment with the original terms and the transaction is now expected to close by June 1, 2021.

Virgin Media and O2 will be one of the biggest businesses in the UK, with 46 million+ broadband, mobile, phone and home subscribers and 18,700 employees. It’s good news for customers, communities and businesses all over the country.

The O2 network service, billing and contractual agreements will remain exactly as they are.
