Act Now To Dodge Incompatibility Issues After the iOS Update

Many of our customers have been in touch with concerns about the upcoming iOS (16) Update, which will not be compatible with iPhone 6, 6s, SE First Generation and 7.

iOS 16 is slated for launch in October, but it will only be available for iPhone 8 and later models, so iPhone 6, 6S, SE, 7, and 7 Plus users won’t get access to a slew of fresh features. However, if you have a second or third generation 1Phone SE you will have access to the new software.

There are some workarounds that might give you access to a small portion of the update. Some iOS 16 features will be available on iPad, notably some great features to aid accessibility for blind or sight-impaired or for deaf and hearing-impaired users, including Door Detection and Live Captions on FaceTime.

According to Apple, Door Detection will be accessible on iPads that feature the LiDAR Scanner, and the iPad Pro 12.9-inch. Live Captions will be available on iPad models with A12 Bionic and later, including the 5th generation iPad Mini, the 3rd generation iPad Air, and the 8th generation iPad. You can also access the Live Captions beta on a Mac with Apple Silicone.

However, in order to enjoy the update in all its glory, now might be the time to plan a handset upgrade before the autumn. Get in touch with your Uplands account manager today to see how we can help. 0800 240 000.
