“Dear All,

 

As somebody who manages a business passionate about communication, I know how important it is that we stay connected, now more than ever. 

 

I have been really inspired by seeing NHS Nurse, Leona Harris, who is working on the frontline whilst simultaneously raising money to buy iPads and Tablets for Covid-19 patients. 

 

I wanted to ask all of my colleagues and friends who work in the technology and communications industry, an industry that has been so good to us over so many years, to do something amazing. Directly from your company, to patients on Covid-19 wards.

 

With no visitors permitted to visit loved ones, the only way a patient who is on a Covid-19 isolation ward can see or speak to their loved ones, is often, by luck and availability, that they are able to borrow a phone or tablet from a Doctor or Nurse. This is not good enough, and we have the power to help change this. 

 

If you could donate 1 iPad, Tablet or Phone to a local hospital or care home, that would make a massive difference. Donate 5 and I would love you forever. Donate more and who knows what I would do. When someone is admitted to hospital they are isolated from the moment they arrive on a ward, and that isolation extends to their family, friends and loved ones. No further contact, or very limited communication. I could not imagine how upsetting and distressing this would be. 

 

If we do this, you won’t just be helping the patients and their families, you will be helping the care givers, who are dedicated to providing comfort, reassurance and the best possible care, and I believe that will be more achievable if they can connect with their nearest and dearest.

 

I know you are brilliant, clever, entrepreneurial people, who already do so much to help people, but Tech is our thing. Please open your stock room and gather up whatever you can and get it into the hands of your local hospital or care home. Make a massive and direct difference through technology.
