We are looking for dynamic individuals to become a crucial part of our team as a Business Development Manager. To best tackle this role, you’ll delve into new opportunities every day, and you’ll always be striving to identify new prospects across the B2B sector. We’re looking for ambitious, driven people who have a passion for delivering customer excellence and working to achieve results.

As a BDM at Uplands, you will play a pivotal role in the acquisition of new business (New Customers), across our entire range of products and services (Inc. Mobile, Hosted Telephony, Connectivity and IoT solutions) within the B2B SME marketplace.  You will be an ambitious, target-driven (Hunter), with a passion for winning new business.

You will be responsible for identifying, developing and closing sales through sustained prospecting activity and will be able to develop strong internal & external relationships delivering solutions to meet customer demands and requirements. You will be responsible for the delivery of new customer acquisition targets and sales order values within a dedicated area from our defined portfolio of mobile, cloud and connectivity solutions. You will have a clearly defined sales methodology and will be required to create and present a credible sales plan.

Business Development Manager – Full-Time, Permanent Role

Location – Hybrid role optional. This role offers flexibility with remote work, but we also value face-to-face collaboration, with one fixed day a week reporting to our Swansea Head Office. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting – You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing sales through sustained prospecting activities, which include; outbound calling from our CRM, networking, attending events, LinkedIn, customer referrals and whatever means you deem necessary to generate new opportunities.
  • Building Pipeline – Creating and growing your own self-generated pipeline, gathering and storing information within our CRM which include, contract end dates, current suppliers, connection numbers, decision-makers and potential GP.
  • Building Relationships – You will be adept at building repour, long-standing relationships, and understanding potential clients challenges and needs.
  • Positioning Uplands – You must be able to pitch Uplands as a business, positioning our overall services and solutions offering, in a manor that encourages prospects to want to do business with us.
  • Achieving Sales Targets & KPI’ – You will be set key (achievable) targets dependent on the needs of the business which will include Monthly/Quarterly GP, and numbers of connections in each product area and will be expected to hit these on a quarterly basis.
  • Booking & hosting meetings with clients and prospects via MS Teams – You will be responsible for booking meetings for both yourself and our sales director to both pitch and position the business and then present our proposed solutions.
  • Building Presentations – You will build engaging, attractive and enticing proposals for your prospects to help with the closing process.
  • Bill Analysis – You will need to conduct analysis of existing bills in comparison to what we offer in order to build a strong commercial case for prospects to want to do business with us.
  • Leading The Entire Sales Process – Finding an opportunity, developing the opportunity, presenting the proposal and closing the deal (Cradle to grave).
  • Desk Based – This is a desk-based position where you will be both liaising with prospects over the phone and conducting face to face meetings with clients over Microsoft Teams. On the very rare occasion and only when necessary, meeting at our clients’ offices. You will be provided with a work laptop and mobile to enable your hybrid working and at our Swansea Office you will have access to your very own desk setup, demo suite, video conferencing room and team environment.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years Telecoms sales experience, selling solutions such as mobile, hosted telephony and connectivity.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to be a great negotiator and influencer.
  • Ability to work independently with focused self-motivation.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience in using CRM systems, as well as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook knowledge.
  • Demonstrable ability to generate and close business over the phone.
  • Ideal candidates will be geographically located in an area commutable to Swansea.
